Dear Williamsburg County School District Community,

It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as Superintendent of Williamsburg County School District. I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with our scholars, families, educators, staff, Board of Trustees, and community as WE work together to create exceptional opportunities for every child we serve.

As I begin this journey with the Williamsburg County community, I do so with a deep belief that education has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and shape the future. I also recognize the tremendous responsibility that comes with leading a school district that sits at the heart of our communities. Together, we have an opportunity to build upon the strengths of this district while moving forward with purpose, unity, and excellence.

I enter this role with 26 years of experience in education and a lifelong passion for serving students. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving as a classroom teacher, gifted education facilitator, assistant principal, principal, state-level educational leader, and district administrator. These experiences in both large, small, urban and rural school districts, have allowed me to work with students and educators from diverse backgrounds while gaining a understanding of what it takes to support school and student success.

Prior to becoming superintendent, I served as Director of Testing, Accountability, Gifted and Talented, Multilingual Learning, and Title III Programs for Sumter School District. I also served as the South Carolina Department of Education’s State Director of Gifted and Talented, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate Programs, where I worked alongside school districts across South Carolina to expand educational opportunities for students and strengthen advanced academic programming statewide.

My experiences as a principal reinforced my belief in the importance of relationships, school culture, family engagement, and instructional leadership. Whether serving in a classroom, school building, district office, or at the state level, my focus has always remained the same: doing what is best for students.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Livingstone College, a Master of Science in Educational Administration from University of Scranton, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University.

I am a husband, and father, who believes deeply in the value of relationships and community. My wife, Dr. Shemmicca Moore, and I are proud parents of Lamiyah and Christopher.

I believe strong schools are built through collaboration, high expectations, accountability, and genuine partnerships with families and the community. I want our students to feel inspired, our employees to feel supported and valued, and our community to feel proud of the direction of Williamsburg County School District.

Our theme, “Moving Forward Together,” reflects my belief that meaningful progress happens when we unite around a shared vision for student success. While challenges may arise, I firmly believe the best days for Williamsburg County School District are ahead of us when we work together with purpose, positivity, and determination.

Thank you for welcoming me into this incredible community. I look forward to listening, learning, building relationships, and working alongside each of you as we continue moving Williamsburg County School District forward together.

With appreciation and excitement for the future,

Dr. Lamont L. Moore
